We’re all familiar with that end-of-year phase. That one where you feel the need to do something significant for the year ahead and to learn from all your endeavours from the past one.
I used to write a lot more than I do now and I always enjoyed it. Sure, I can make excuses for why I have failed to do so recently: living in a van and moving all the time; buying a new house (abroad); too much work…you’ve heard them all.
The truth is that I’ve just gotten lazy and replaced writing with other vices like consuming movies and series online and playing games. I now feel the need to create again. To write and to share. I’d also like to commit to this being more habitual and deliberate.
What can you expect?
Truth be told, I am no fortune teller so I cannot say exactly what you will get from this publication, but I can tell you that if you work in tech, design products and have a passion for what you do, then you are in the right place.
After 20 years of working in the field of design, I have accumulated a lot of knowledge and tried many things. I’d like to share these learnings with you and inspire you.
The content I produce will circle around three main themes:
Thinking in systems
While Design Systems will be a part of the content I create—as this is a topic I am passionate about—I will reach far beyond that and explore how systems make up so many parts of our lives. Many systems exist in nature and inspire us as humans. Many are fabricated to make our lives easier. As a topic I find deeply interesting, I’ll be exploring the spectrum of systems.
Process hacking
One thing that has always underpinned my life is a need for understanding—a perpetual curiosity. This has led me to the profession of design and arriving here, I have found many shortcuts and hacks along the way. I’ll be sharing some of these with you to help you work smarter, not harder.
Effective leadership
Growing up, we are surrounded by leaders. As we mature, we ourselves take on this role for others. But what makes a good leader? I’ll reflect on those relationships of the past—the ones I have learned from the most. I’ll also share some personal stories as a leader and what I have learned along the way.
